Memento Mori - "Remember you must die"
Contemplating immortality is not a polite topic for many. The inevitability of it - the end, I mean, - being a harsh reality to face. We can live, then lose, then lose ourselves in such a small space.
But in that reminder is hope. Embracing the end as unavoidable, releasing the power it holds over you, allows one to fully embrace the blessings that are present.
After all, you can't beat back that which has always been and will always be - long after you are gone.
This isn't the unstoppable force versus the immovable object.
Carpe Diem - "Seize the day"
Because death is unavoidable, and unpredictable, rendering time of the essence, we must do what we can to make the most of our moments.
To some, it may feel pointless or a waste of time to put in the effort to live, when such an unstoppable force is inching ever closer. But pray, why else are we here, if not to live?
After all, you can't beat back that which has always been and will always be - long after you are gone.
You mind as well live for the moment.
